SIGNIFICANT
CIVIL TRIALS
Hill v. Torres- This case arose
out of a traffic collision in which an eighteen year
old high school girl was killed. She was an outstanding
young woman and her mother was awarded two million dollars
as compensation for the loss of her daughter.
Ness v. Alexander and Baldwin
- This case arose out of a slip and fall accident in
which my client suffered stenosis in her neck and low
back. Ms. Ness was a very impressive woman who had suffered
from polio since she was three years old and was orphaned
when she was a teenager. She put herself through college
and law school. Even though the defense attempted to
characterize her injuries as soft tissue in nature the
jury awarded her $466,000 in damages.
Smidt v. Foote - Ms. Foote was
struck in the low back while she pumping gas at a gas
station. Her injury was aggravated a few months later
when she picked up her toddler. She eventually had surgery
performed upon her lumbar spine. Even though the defense
tried to escape responsibility by blaming Ms. Foote
for picking up her child the jury awarded her $250,000.00.
In addition, hundreds of cases have been resolved
for the defendant's insurance policy limits.
