Women suffers head trauma and numerous broken bones-

High School girl killed in motor vehicle collision-
Linda Hill was a seventeen year old high school senior who was riding in
the backseat of a car when it was cut off by a car driven by another teen.
She was thrown from the car and died immediately. Linda and her mother,
who was divorced from her father, were extraordinarily close. Mrs. Hill
was awarded $2,000,000.00 after the trial of the case.
Building inspector steps into uncovered floor opening on construction site-
The plaintiff, a building inspector, was inspecting a commercial property
that was under construction. During his inspection he stepped into an
uncovered floor opening, which he knew was present. He fell to the floor
fracturing his right patella and tearing the rotator cuff in his left
shoulder. He underwent three surgeries to repair these injuries. The defendants
all denied any responsibility for the incident, however, when they were
made aware that failure to cover a floor opening is a violation of Cal
OSHA regulations they settled the case for $1,025,000.00.
Off duty fire fighter injured in T-Bone collision-
The plaintiff was driving his car home from work when a van driven by the
defendant drove from a side street directly into his path of travel causing
a substantial collision. The plaintiff injured his neck and underwent
surgery to his cervical spine. The case settled for $750,000.00.
Off duty deputy sheriff injured in motor vehicle collision-
My client suffered a broken wrist while riding her motorcycle, when a truck
driven by an employee of Aqua Pool and Spa, drifted into her lane of travel.
She underwent three surgeries to her wrist but she always returned to
work within two weeks.
Rear End Collision-
Mr. Alexander, who had not had a prior problem with low back pain, was
involved in a rear end automobile collision and immediately experienced
low back pain. After several doctor visits, two rounds of physical therapy
and an MRI scan he was diagnosed as suffering from a herniated disc in
the lumbar region of his spine. He underwent three epidural injections
per year for two years prior to the arbitration hearing and his future
medical care included this same treatment regimen. The arbitrator awarded
Mr. Alexander $38,745.00 for his past medical bills and $209,840.00 for
his future injections and medical visits. The arbitrator also awarded
Mr. Alexander $16,450.00 for his past income loss and $53,211.00 for his
future income loss as well as $150,000.00 for pain and suffering for a
total award of $468,245.00.
